In todays blog I am going to talk about clean beauty. Until a few years ago I really didn’t think too much about what I put on my skin, just what went in my body. Well, your skin is your largest organ, and what goes on goes in. So it would make sense to be conscientious of what I put on my skin. I decided to start researching clean beauty products, there is so much out there, and, the terminology can be a bit confusing, fir example, natural doesn’t mean better for you or even safer for that matter, its just a marketing term. Organic usually means its food grade safe, I am not going to eat my makeup or lotions. So what does “clean beauty” actually mean?

First, Non-toxic ingredients, second is labeling, clean beauty product labeling must be transparent and not misleading, simple to understand and free of toxic ingredients. This doesn’t always mean nothing man made, it means safe for humans. Here is a list of ingredients I definitely stay away from.
- All Parabens
- All added fragrances, natural fragrances like lavandar or mint are ok with me.
- Chemical UV sunscreens
- Triclisan, this is a disinfectant that has been phased out of hand sanitizer and toothpaste fairly recently
- DEA
- Phthalates
- SLS
- Formaldehyde
- Polyethylene and BHA
I’m going to share with you some of the products I’ve enjoyed using and why:

Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Sukarno Babyfacial 25% AHA + 2% BHA Mask
This product is THE best chemical peel product I have ever used. I will warn you, you will definitely get immediate results, definitely do a skin test first, it stings and tingles a bit when you put it on, I get use to it pretty quickly and can leave it on for an hour. Nothing I have tried at home had ever given me instant results like this mask. It has a very high concentrate of AHA and BHAs which is why it works so well. My skin is baby soft and glowing smooth. When I use this regularly, once a week, it will fade out my dark spots and it exfoliates like crazy. Definitely use a non chemical sunscreen daily! This mask does have anti-oxidants, anti-irritants and nourishing oils to balance out the effects of this powerful exfoliant. If you feel like your skin is experiencing a “plateau” Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Sukarno Babyfacial will definitely take your skin to the next level of glowing.
Organic Rejuvenating Argan oil Morocco By Aura Cacia
This clean beauty product actually serves a dual beauty purpose. This absolutely wonderful natural oil I have been using on special areas that are the most troublesome dry spots and areas. This special oil contains essential fatty acids which not only moisturize but nourish my skin. I use this oil on my elbows, knees, and heels after my shower. Just a tiny drop goes a long way. When I use this oil on my face, I use it on dry patches at night. I will put it on after I’ve applied all my other nighttime products, just a very small amount goes a long way. I wake up to that area being smoother and not irritated, and usually within a couple days that dry patch is gone completely. I also use this Argan oil as a scalp massage. I will put 6 drops on my hands and work the oil into my scalp with my hands or with my super soft bristled brush before I shampoo. If you are able to sleep with this on your scalp overnight, that is even better.

Animal Magic Eyeshadow Palette
Another favorite clean beauty product I love is by Pacifica Beauty. I use Animal Magic eyeshadow palette. Not only does this palette have the most natural earth tones but some glittery fun colors and some really fun highlighting colors as well. I love the way these colors blend so well and they have really good pigment, the shadow stays put all day and it doesn’t crease at all. Since I am really not going out much at all but still want to feel good even going out for a drive. I’ve been wearing just a little bit makeup, its so easy to just add a touch of color to my eyes and a coat of mascara and I feel great behind my mask.
Hope you enjoyed learning a little about clean beauty. I would love to hear about clean beauty products you have enjoyed using too.
