Natural Makeup That Works

These days, there are so many options for skincare. From the definite basics of sunscreen to facials with 24 carat gold infused in the mask, you name it, the world has created it.

I wasn’t really good with sunscreen when I was younger, if I could change anything about my beauty routine, it would be wearing sunscreen as a teen. You will be happy to hear that I did come to my senses and wear sunscreen :).

As I turned 40, I decided it was time to really pay attention to skincare, but I wanted a skincare routine that use natural products. For example, I learned how to make my own facials. My favorite recipe for my facial is oatmeal,  which is a wonderful exfoliate. I will use my spice grinder to thin it out so that it’s easier to make it into a paste. Then I add lemon juice, which is great for lightning those sunspots and helps brighten your skin. I also put olive oil for softening your skin. After I wash my face with warm water, I put it on and let it stay on for about 20 minutes then I use a washcloth to gently scrub it off and finish with a moisturizer for your skin type. I recommend doing facials regularly (once or twice a week), which will help your skin look and feel amazing, with or with out makeup!

So let’s talk about makeup! I like going without makeup but love wearing makeup. It’s really fun to decide on the look you want. I usually go pretty light starting with sunscreen and a pore minimizer. I wear a bit of foundation to even out my skin tone.

Recently, I found a fabulous dual purpose (and very hydrating) Lip and Cheek stick from Naked Truth Beauty. I contour my cheeks with this and also use it on my lips. I also absolutely love the Naked Truth Beauty highlighter! They are gluten free and made by hand in Vashon, Washington. I love that it is in stick form and it’s packaged with recyclable materials!

Now let’s get to the eyes! For daytime, I keep it simple, a matte highlighter under my brows and in the crease I use an orange/brown color and a plum pencil liner. I fill in my brows, which is a lovely way to frame your face. If you do nothing, fill in your brows and add a touch of lip color you feel put together and polished.  I finish with a tubular mascara! I don’t like traditional mascaras because it’s too hard to remove (and I don’t like raccoon eyes). That is about it!

Here are some makeup quotes I love:

“I only have to do three things to look halfway decent. Curl my eyelashes, fill in my eyebrows and put some lipstick on.” Courtney Cox…. smart lady!

“Lipstick is really magical. It holds more than a waxy bit of color – it holds the promise of a brilliant smile, a brilliant day, both literally and figuratively.” – Roberta Gately    I love this because it’s soooo simple and so true!

“The most beautiful makeup for a woman is passion. But cosmetics are easier to buy.” – Yves Saint Laurent

“I just like playing with makeup and clothes – so I really don’t feel like there are rules, and if there are rules, then I think it’s up to you to break them.” – Kesha

Yep, no rules, just fun and what makes you happy and ignites your passions.

Good day! This is kind of off topic but I need some guidance from an established blog.

Is it very hard to set up your own blog? I’m not very techincal but I can figure things
out pretty fast. I’m thinking about making my own but I’m not sure where
to begin. Do you have any points or suggestions? Cheers
