Achieving a Healthy Lifestyle

How do you achieve a healthy lifestyle and make it part of your daily routine?

For me, a big realization was being diagnosed with scoliosis at 12 and to make it worse, at 16 osteoarthritis. If I did not want to have surgery, I need to replaced my life with healthy rules that would save me and serve me for a life time. As with someone with diabetes, my medication comes in a different form. It’s dedication to eating healthy, watching my weight, and exercising. For me, pounds add pressure to my spine and causes a lot of pain. I also believe as we age, maintaining a healthy weight maintains healthier joints.

I believe everyone should have their own health goals. It’s not a once size fits all solution. I recommend starting small. It takes a while and they say it usually takes about 21 days to make changes. Pick one issue at a time. Choose how you will achieve that goal. Choose a “health partner” or maybe a journal and document your journey to keep you accountable. If a support team works for you, fantastic! Tell someone how you are progressing, maybe others will join you!

Here’s a little tip:

Start your morning with juicing to kick start your appetite. I’ve been at it for at least 15 years and I believe this is one of the main things that helps jump start my day! I choose fresh, in season veggies, and I use unsweetened grapefruit as my one fruit for taste. I add a protein powder and cinnamon to regulate a healthy blood sugar level, turmeric for inflammation and some antioxidant powder additives which vary by day.

If you try it out, let me know!
